Bhutan Water Partnership supported a project in Gomtu, Samtse titled “Gomtu Water Source Protection Plantation” in Pagli Gewog covering an area of 2.12 hectares (5.24 acre). The project proposal was sent by the project committee through the Social Forestry Division, Thimphu for financial assistance of Nu. 95,772. The project has 72 beneficiaries including RBP colony, Gomtu Middle Secondary School and the Hospital. The project started from March 2008 and will continue till 2011, and is being managed by Bhutan Water Partnership Secretariat based in the RSPN.
8th August, 2008 In continuation to RSPN's efforts in enhancing the awareness level and understanding of the environmental status and issues of Phobjikha valley among the institutions and local communities, Environment Education Unit conducted a refresher course for adult learners from four non-formal education (NFE) centres and nature club students and teachers from three schools from 6th to 8th August 2008.
