Stakeholder Workshop on Community Based Sustainable Tourism |

June 24 2009 - As a part of
strengthening coordination
and network linkage for community based sustainable tourism (CBST) in Phobjikha, a workshop was
organized for the tour
operators and stakeholders like Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO)
, Department of Forest (DoF), National Environment Commission (NEC), Sustainable Development Secretariat (SDS),
UNESCO National Commission and the Dzongkhag administration.

Thrisoel' ceremony, the ground work for the construction of the long awaited
RSPN Head Office in Kawangjangsa was seen in a simple ceremony on 20th
June, 2009.

Training on Ringshu Plantation and Management |
|

The
RSPN provided three days training on techniques for Ringshu (Neomicrocalamus andropogonifolius) plantation and
management to the Passangphu Ringshu Tshogpa members from May 31,
2009 to June 2, 2009. A total of 41 members participated.

World Environment Day celebrated in Lhuntse |

June 5, 2009- "Your Planet Needs You! Unite to Combat Climate Change"
was the kaleidoscopic theme for the World Environment Day (WED) celebrated in
Lhuntse Dzongkhag on 5th June, 2009 to sensitize the people on the global
issues such as climate change. Till last year, the WED was organized in and
around the capital city. However, with the importance adhered to the
environment by Lhuntse Dzongkhag Administration, RSPN moved from the capital to
Lhuntse Dzongkhag to celebrate the WED together with the government officials
and community.
