Come November 11th and the Gangtey Gonpa Courtyard will be filled with local people and tourist to witness the 15th Annual Black-necked Crane festival.
The festival will be organized by the Phobjikha Environment Management Committee (PEMC) involving the local people, schools and various institutions. These festivals is aimed at educating people about the need for conservation of the environment and the cranes and in the process garner the good will support of both the local people and the tourists.
ANNOUNCEMENT: RSPN’s Jigme Khesar Environmental Resource Centre (JKERC) Library will be hosting a webinar on using EBSCO environmental databases.
The JKERC currently has access to EBSCO Environment Complete and EBSCO’s Sustainability Reference Centre. Combined these databases provide access to over 1000 full-text journals and 200 e-books related to the environment. RSPN members have free access to these databases.
This is to inform general public and relevant institutions that the Royal Society for Protection Nature, Thimphu will be carrying out the following activities in Phobjikha:
1. Renovation of Black-necked Crane Visitor Center at Phobjikha to be implemented between July 2013 to January 2014.
2. Development and maintenance of Board walk along the Gangtey Nature trail in Phobjikha valley from June – September 2013.
Royal Society for Protection of Nature in Thimphu invite sealed bids from National Contractors (small) registered with CDB and having valid Trade License for renovation of Black Necked Crane Information Center, Construction of Fencing , Landscaping and construction of retaining walls at Phobjikha in Wangdue Phodrang.
