November 1 declared as "Clean Bhutan Day" PDF Print E-mail

As the nation prepares to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and 100 years of Monarchy, the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Royal Society for Protection of Nature declares November 1st as “Clean Bhutan Day”. The day will be observed to ensure a Clean Bhutan and an atmosphere of purity during the auspicious coronation of His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and to inspire individuals and communities to collectively participate and contribute to a “Clean Bhutan” at the time of this occasion and thereafter.

13 OCTOBER 2008, BARCELONA, SPAIN Members of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) are celebrating the announcement of their new president, Ashok Khosla from India. He was running against Purificació Canals and Carlos Manuel Rodríguez in the presidential run-off at the world’s oldest and largest environmental network, held at its World Conservation Congress in Barcelona.
