The organization is involved in the research and conservation of two endanered avian species in the country, i.e. Black-necked Crane and White-bellied Heron. The program includes study of population, habitat, feeding habits and migration of the species using platform telemetry transmitters (PTT). RSPN is now the key organization in the country for information on black-necked cranes and the white-bellied herons.
