His Excellency Mr. Chalermpol Thanchitt, Ambassador of Thailand to Bhutan presented seven sewing machines to RSPN on 8th February 2009. Extending a warm welcome to RSPN, the Executive Director introduced His Excellency on the plans and programs of the only environmental NGO and the important role entrusted by the Royal Government of Bhutan in conserving the pristine environment.

Speaking at the gathering, his Excellency said that his visit to RSPN and contribution of sewing machines are the "beginning of cordial and expanding relationship between Thai Government and RSPN in the area of conservation". He said that Thailand will explore the possibilities of cooperation and support to RSPN in realizing its conservation missions.

The sewing machines will be handed over to the communities of Phobjikha to promote eco-tourism through souvenir production and improve their livelihoods.
