Introduction

Climate change and their impacts in developing countries (especially least developed countries) will become inevitable in the coming years. Many of the most vulnerable groups and communities will be the poorest and most marginalized. People working in development (at international as well as national and local levels) require accurate and relevant information on climate change and development linkages.

Tiempo is a quarterly journal produced jointly by IIED, SEI and UEA as well as a website
http://www.tiempocyberclimate.org which tries to provide such information (with a focus on the least developed countries).

Purpose:
The purpose of this exercise is to develop a panel of key individuals in Bhutan (one of the Least developed country) to get them to read Tiempo regularly and get their advice and feedback. After reading series of climate change publications, the team will ultimately collect and produce climate change publications related to Bhutan for wider information dissemination. The so called publication in the future will be titled “Up in Smoke Bhutan”.

Objectives:
  1. To raise awareness amongst key actors in Bhutan about climate change and development issues.
  2. To establish a group of such individuals to meet occasionally at a location or interact through internet using e-forum and discuss on climate change issues in Bhutan.
Process:
  1. Develop a list of key individuals (20 to 30) in Bhutan (including individuals from government, NGOs, academics, researchers, media, private sector, etc).
  2. Offer registered individuals with a free subscription to Tiempo in exchange for agreeing to attend a meeting after you get a few copies to share your feedback.
  3. After you receive a few copies invite the whole team to a focus group meeting at RSPN office or a different venue and get your feedback.
  4. Upon receiving the feedback, the team will discuss on how to address climate change issues in Bhutan using different modes of communication.
